Electrification and development

Society is experiencing an exciting shift, where large parts of Sweden’s basic industry are going fossil free. Mining company LKAB is just one of several companies that have recently joined the Swedish Wind Energy Association. They find that wind power will play a key part in their green transition, while they themselves will also contribute decisively to the energy system.
LKAB will be Sweden’s, and perhaps Europe’s, largest producer of hydrogen, and the combination of hydrogen storage and wind power opens up completely new opportunities for developing the future system of sustainable energy and power supply. This is a must in order to be able to meet the sharply increased electricity needs that Sweden is facing. At the same time it puts a spotlight on the connection between renewable electricity and growth, with Swedish industrial development and new jobs.
