How Do We Ensure Enough Capacity for the Next Ten Years?

Meeting electricity demand over the next decade will require technological innovation and strategic decisions on how to ensure sufficient power in the grid. This session highlights the challenges and solutions around how we can design a robust and flexible electricity system.

How can we utilize the existing grid more efficiently without losing security of supply? What is needed in terms of new electricity generation and flexibility? What can we learn from the rest of Europe about integrating renewable electricity production?

The session will start with a conversation with Lotta Medelius-Bredhe, Director-General of Svenska kraftnät (Swedish TSO). Together with the other speakers in the panel, technical solutions such as storage, wind power, and gas turbines will be explored. Henric Thorsen from Siemens Energy will present the study “ReNOWable 24/7”. Lowina Lundström, CEO of EIT InnoEnergy Scandinavia, will give an outlook from a European perspective and talk about new innovations.
