VIND Talks – Sessions Day 1
Building GW-Scale Wind Farms: The Road Ahead, Are We Ready?
This VIND Talk explores the technical and financial challenges of offshore wind farm construction, focusing on the scale, costs, and logistics involved in building GW-scale wind farms in our region. The session highlights critical aspects such as project bottlenecks, vessel availability, and port infrastructure, all of which significantly impact timelines and cost management. Participants will gain insight into the extreme challenges posed by these mega projects.

How Can Wind Farms Support the Energy System of the Future Through the Ancillary Services Market?
A functioning balance between electricity production and consumption is crucial for the stability of the electricity system. Å Entelios and Siemens Gamesa have qualified Sidensjö Wind Farm for the FCR-D down support service, which allows the farm to reduce its production within seconds to stabilize the frequency. Many wind power producers want to participate in this market, but barriers such as lack of knowledge and the right technology, as well as the need for equipment customization by turbine developers, remain.
See how you can benefit as a wind energy producer by participating in the ancillary services market. Gain insight as a manufacturer into the increased demand for turbines that can qualify for the ancillary services market. See how you as an investor can get a faster payback on your wind farm and how you can help support the electricity system through ancillary services.

Managing Marine Environmental Risks and Opportunities With Offshore Wind Farms in Operation, State-Of-the Art
During the operational phase, offshore wind farms are integrated into marine ecosystems for decades. Early environmental assessments were largely speculative and based on other marine infrastructure. A lack of understanding of their environmental impacts can lead to ineffective measures and increased costs. However, over the past 20 years, extensive research and monitoring has significantly improved knowledge of how wind farms interact with the marine environment, enhancing our ability to mitigate negative impacts and amplify positive ones. This VIND Talk will provide an update on the latest research in managing marine environmental risks and opportunities with operational offshore wind farms.

Listen to a VIND Talk
The VIND Talk stage is a new discussion-opening element at VIND2024 where conference participants are invited to listen to short presentations on particularly interesting cases with a bearing on the overall themes of the conference. The VIND Talk presentations are given by selected players on the Swedish market.
The program on the VIND Talk stage is scheduled during the breaks in the main program. The VIND Talk stage is located in the foyer of the Waterfront Congress Center and has a capacity for 70 seated audience members simultaneously and room for standing. It is first come, first served!
